Material Requirements
Preferred Materials
Macintosh - QuarkXPress, Photoshop, Illustrator. Pagemaker files will be converted to
QuarkXPress. Photo images and artwork must be a minimum of 266 dpi, max of 360 and should
be saved in TIFF or EPS format. All color ads should use CMYK format. Times of the Islands
is not responsible for COLOR on files submitted in RGB, Pantone or other formats.
Electronic files are preferred for fractional ads. Color seps with match/color proofs are
preferred for full page ads.
Acceptable Materials
Negatives, right reading, emulsion side down, 150-line screen; reproduction proofs on
enamel stock; camera-ready art.
Ad Layout
Time and materials charges at cost plus 25% service charge.
Creative Services
The advertiser or agency will be billed for all work done to prepare an ad that is not in
the required format requested. This includes mechanical work, typesetting, scanning,
composition, and design. Agency commission is not applicable.
Format Simulation
The publisher reserves the right to place the word "advertisement" on copy of
any advertisement that simulates the editorial matter of the publication.
Inserts
Inserts can be submitted as pre-printed pieces or negatives (printing price quotes
available upon request). Card inserts must be supported by a full-page ad.
Reprints
Prices available upon request.
Electronic File Specs:
Full or partial pages: Supply color-corrected electronic printable files.
Macintosh-compatible files must include all fonts and CMYK converted
links necessary for placement. Non-Macintosh files must be saved or exported as placable
encapsulated postscript files (.EPS), with fonts printed to curves and CMYK links saved
within the file. BW laser must accompany BW files. Color-separated lasers and color proofs
must accompany all color electronic-supplied ads. Run time, film and proof will be billed
to advertiser for full-page ads electronically supplied. Partial ads supplied with
complete and correct electronic files will not receive film charge. Electronic ads not
supplied in accordance to the above will be billed at a rate of $50 per hour to correct.

Film Specs:
Full-page ads: Supply film negatives to size, right reading, emulsion down, 133-150 line
screen with contact proof. Partial page ads: Supply film negatives to size, right reading,
emulsion down, 133-150 line screen with contact proof. Photos to be stripped in, film or
any other additional work necessary to complete preparation of ad will be billed to
advertiser. Film and proofs supplied should all correspond to SWOP standards with total
ink density not to exceed 280%. The publisher and printer will not accept responsibility
when proofs are not submitted. All film will be held for one year only, then destroyed,
unless otherwise requested in writing. Production and prepress services are available;
rates upon request.
Cancellations:
Cancellations will not be accepted if not received 10 days prior to closing date of issue.
